In 1878, the First Fishing Society of Novigrad was founded, and in 1899, the Tuna Fishing Cooperative. Both cooperatives engaged in tuna fishing in the Novigrad Sea. Towards the end of the Second World War, a new Novigrad Fishery Cooperative was founded, and it was mainly engaged in catching small blue fish.
