On July 3, 1646, during the Turkish siege and conquest of Novigrad, the citizens of Novigrad fled to the island of Pag in seven boats. On March 31, 1647, Novigrad was liberated from the Turks with a strong naval blockade of the Venetian fleet.

1605. anonymous “Giovanni” from Ferm collected oyster shells in the Zrmanja canyon. In 1706, Venice leased the Novigrad Sea for tuna fishing and shellfish extraction.
